Damien Blottiere

Damien Blottiere's work involves using a unique technique, combining both photography and collage making. This approach allows the audience to view not just one side of the subjects face or body, but more angles, granting a more complete and full image of the model.

Some of his work is portraits form chest up, where other, more complicated pieces involve the full body, head to toe.

His work is becoming increasingly popular, as it is a new approach, which as mentioned earlier, allows for a more complete image.

Each image has its own individual feel, created by the lighting, size of the cut out and the subjects appearance. This one of a male subject, emits an aura of power and confidence, this feel is created by a number of means. The male character is placed in the centre of the frame, he is standing up straight, with the slightest of side on poses, but his head stays centred , with his eyes directed straight towards the photographers lense, which gives of a strong tone of confidence and dominance. The background is white, which allows the subject to stand out and directs all focus on him, adding importance. Upon observation the garments that the subject is wearing seem to be of a high quality, probably expensive, once again implying the power and wealth of the individual.

However there is a second portrait underlayed in this image. This second picture is darker, which suggests that the male subject has a 'darker side' within his confident personality. Something that he may want to be hidden, hence it is underneath the more positive portrait.
